The evolution of autobiographical memory macrostructure is considered as a result of coordinated interaction between the processes of socialization and individualization in the course of development of the above mnemonic subsystem. It is substantiated that the acquisition of cultural life scripts serves as the source of social conditioning of autobiographical memory. The question of the sources of individualization contents of autobiographical memory is brought up. The hypothesis that the cultural life scripts demonstrate variability even within the same community is discussed. In other words, an individual has the opportunity to choose scripts and build personal life stories based on these scripts. The following types of the scripts as socio-cultural means for organizing an autobiography are distinguished: typical, family, media (for example literary).
