The paper presents  the measurement invariance of Emotional Control Values (ECV) questionnaire by A. Mauss which measures the value of emotional control and self-efficacy of emotional control; the study uses samples from Russia (n = 256) and Azerbaijan (n = 205). In the framework of confirmatory factor analysis model of partial equivalence were constructed, to compare the mean scores on the latent factors in Russia and Azerbaijan. Respondents from Azerbaijan have score higher on the value of emotional control and lower on emotional control self-efficacy, compared to respondents from Russia. In Russia males have higher scores on both value and self-efficacy of emotional control, compared to females, but in the Azerbaijan sample no significant gender differences in emotional control were found. The results are discussed in the context the differences between the two cultures in individualism-collectivism.
